About School of Nursing and Midwifery

Birjand School of Nursing started its activities in 1986 with 32 students. This school admits students in different fields including nursing (associate, bachelor and non-continuous bachelor, master of nursing education, and PhD), midwifery, medical emergencies (associate, non-continuous bachelor, and master courses of mental health, community health, internal surgery) and master of emergency services. The university has also applied for launching midwifery, special and geriatric nursing M.Sc. programs, and PhD in disaster and emergency health.

The faculty is located in a building with a surface area of about 3380m², equipped with a clinical skills laboratory, and seven classrooms fully equipped with audio-visual facilities, two council rooms and two rooms for graduate and postgraduate nursing students as well as 14 rooms for the faculty members. The administrative structure of the faculty involves a dean, two deputies of education and research, and heads of the departments. The list of the faculty members and non-faculty members in different clinical fields who are now cooperating with this department in various fields of education and research is fallows.

 
 

Educational facilities and opportunities are identical for all departments:

  • Department of theoretical training, departmental of field training (clinical skills), nursing and midwifery clinical practice workshop, medical emergencies and surgery room workshop, training aid spaces, educational administrative spaces, non-educational administrative spaces, and other services with a total surface area of about 3380 m²

  • Central Library and the subordinate libraries (training fields), IT room for 45 graduate students with 15 computers

  • Two active teaching hospitals (270 and 150 beds) and a third hospital with 200 beds under construction

  • 4 active medical health centers and 12 public health bases in the city

  • Center for Special Diseases (chemotherapy, thalassemia, hemophilia, dialysis)

  • Two amphitheater halls

Currently, professors and students make use of the Center for E-Learning and Virtual Training Development, the audiovisual unit, welfare and sport facility, central library and university laboratories.

 

The Modern Care Journal of Birjand School of Nursing and Midwifery is quarterly published in English language.  This journal is indexed in SID, MagIran, IranMedex and ISC academic databases. (http://mcjbums.com/en/index.html)
