History of the Hospital
Valiasr Teaching and Treatment Center provides general, specialized and subspecialized services and is the largest referral center in Southern Khorasan Province, eastern Iran. It has been providing effective and beneficial health care services to improve health indicators to satisfy patients and clients, and to support disadvantaged people. The hospital welcomes cooperation with educational and research centers and considers this as one of its main tasks.
Valiasr Hospital, the largest hospital affiliated with Birjand University of Medical Sciences, began its activities in 2000 with 224 beds, and the internal, gynecology, cardiology, ophthalmology, ENT, neurology and infectious diseases wards, delivery room, critical care unit, dialysis unit, and gynecology surgery room, such paraclinical departments as laboratory and radiology, the related clinics, and audiometry and optometry units. Thereafter, the ICU, NICU, dermatology clinic, special diseases clinic, open heart surgery room, open heart surgery and ICU were built. Subsequently, in the third phase of construction, the CCU2, angiography, spiral CT-Scan and PICU departments were added to the clinical and paraclinical services. This hospital has trained a large number of undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students in different majors and departments, and has played an important role in education, research, and treatment.
Valiasr Hospital has been ranked first in the latest annual evaluation (dated 05/06/2011). The center currently consists of the following departments: special clinic, specialized and subspecialized clinic, emergency department, general ICU, CCU, NICU, PICU, ICU, open heart ICU, open heart surgery, cardiology, internal medicine, internal neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatric infection, dialysis, angiography, ENT, and operating room.
