According to the report of educational, research and treatment center in Razi Hospital, the neurosurgeon at Birjand University of Medical Science described this complicated surgery as follow:

 

The patient, who was under the surgical procedure, was a 28-year-old man who has referred to the doctor for headache and based on the examinations, it was revealed that a huge cystic lesion was located in frontal lobe (near the forehead) on the right side of his brain and by more examinations it was cleared that this cyst mainly has involved liver and lunges of the patient too.

Dr. Qaemi's primary diagnosis was hydatid cyst. He explained the situation as follow: "brain hydatid cyst is a rare disease and only less than one percent of brain disorders are related to this disease and in this case, according to MRI scans and CT scans it has been cleared that a huge and active cyst was located in frontal lobe on the right side of the brain; the patient has undergone surgeries in two phases by the differential diagnosis of a hydatid cyst".

The head of neurosurgery department in Razi Hospital confirmed that this cyst was removed from his brain without being ripped off and this was a critical point during the surgical procedure. He added: "since it was a rare type of cyst, in the case of being ripped off, it would have popped out and spread directly into the brain and led to infection in other places".
Dr. Qaemi emphasized that it is a rare cyst and it occurs in less than one percent of brain disorders, and it can mostly occur in liver and lunges. Then he added: "in this case, the cyst involved not only the liver and lunges, but also the brain. Fortunately, by having the cooperation of team in Razi Hospital and skillful operating room staffs in this hospital, we could remove the cyst completely and we hope to discharge the patient from the hospital without any problems".
