Introduction:

The infertility treatment center in Birjand, South Khorasan, was opened and operational in the month of Ordibehesht 1396 (April/May 2017). The center is located on two floors with a total area of 800 square meters. Since the establishment of this center, infertile couples have been prevented from traveling to neighboring provinces and incurring high costs. Considering the distance and accessibility of services, it has been made convenient for both domestic and international visitors.

A part of the services provided by the specialized outpatient clinic includes:
  • Women's visits, Sonography examinations of the uterus and ovaries, urology visits, midwifery counseling, obtaining medical history and reviewing tests, filing a case, Pap smears, nutritional counseling, medication treatment, performing IUI

The laboratory consists of 4 sections with the following services:

  • Andrology Laboratory: Spermogram, Sperm Sample Preparation.

  • Embryology Laboratory: Oocyte Preparation, IVF, ICSF and Sperm Freezing, Oocyte and Embryo Handling.

  • Central Laboratory: Performing Urogram, Biochemistry Tests, Hormonal Tests, Pap Smear, Viral Tests, AMH, …

The infertility treatment center operating room includes:

    • It has 2 operating rooms, 2 operation and recovery beds, and 5 post-operative care beds.

  • Operating room for oocyte retrieval, embryo transfer, and other surgical procedures

  • Operating room for hysteroscopy and laparoscopy

In the operating roomsection, services such as Puncture surgury procedures like (oocyte retrieval), embryo transfer (Fresh), frozen embryo transfer(FET), hysteroscopy, sclerotherapy, PRP, TESE and ovarian services are provided.

Laparoscopic surgery center is being launched, which allows surgical procedures to be performed without the need for opening the abdomen and only by creating 2-3 small incisions on the abdomen. It probably has fewer complications compared to laparotomy.

Patient admission process:

  • Counseling and taking history from the couple to evaluate the indication for infertility treatment, control, and obtaining identification documents and identifying the couple.

  • Filling a case

  • Recording the tests and sonography of both female and male individuals, as well as documenting the evaluation results of patients.

  • Visiting the female patient by a specialist in gynecology and visiting the male patient by a specialist in urology.

  • Training on conducting tests, drug injection techniques, care protocols, and follow-up appointments.

  • Preparing the patient for oocyte retrieval and performing IVF, IUI
