IsDB joins efforts with WHO and development partners to promote health impact investment

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has announced a significant grant of US$ 10 million to the World Health Organization (WHO) to support the Health Impact Investment Platform (HIIP). This initiative, launched during the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku on November 12, 2024, aims to enhance primary health care and build resilience in health systems, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. The grant will assist WHO in providing technical support to assess investment needs and design impactful health projects, which will attract further investments, potentially unlocking US$ 500 million in health funding. IsDB President Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser emphasized the importance of this partnership in advancing universal health coverage and resilience, while WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus highlighted the need for sustainable financing to strengthen health systems. The initiative targets 15 countries in its first phase, focusing on creating equitable and resilient health care solutions.
